The Love Controls Solid State Power Relays and Assembled Units incorporate inverse-parallel SCR output devices in a highly reliable, noise-immune drive circuit. Zero-voltage switching reduces high inrush currents and electrical noise. Oversized output chips with an optimized thermal management system allows a narrower band of temperature excursions, resulting in a significant reduction in thermal cycling fatigue, thereby extending relay life. The inherent zero-current turn-off characteristic of SCRs, and the total absence of arcing mechanical contacts, substantially reduce electro-magnetic interference and back EMF transients.
The AC input Solid State Power Relays and Assembled Units can be controlled from a wide range of AC signal sources from 90 to 280 VAC. The DC input Solid State Power Relays and Assembled Units will operate from DC signal sources of 3 to 32 VDC.
Input is completely isolated from the output through an opto-isolator. An SSR must be mounted on a finned heat sink or on an aluminum or steel plate with a thermal transfer medium between heat sink and relay base to dissipate heat that is developed due to the nominal voltage drop across the switching device. Always install a properly sized fast blow (I2T) fuse in the load circuit to protect the SSR from overload.
