A bolt-on sensor can be straightforward to mount until a cramped installation forces its cable to turn with the fastener. Minco’s rotating bolt RTD addresses that problem with a leadwire assembly that swivels independently inside a stainless-steel housing. The installer can tighten the bolt while reducing twisting and strain on the wiring.

Surface temperature sensing in demanding equipment

The design suits surface-temperature monitoring on engines, compressors, generators and industrial machinery. Its stainless-steel construction and cable-covering choices let the sensor be specified for the mechanical conditions around the measurement point. Independent cable rotation is an installation feature; it does not require the cable to be twisted as the bolt is secured.

Choose imperial or metric mounting

Models S241030 and S241032 use a 1/4-20 thread, 3/8 inch long, with a 7/16 inch hex head. S241031 and S241033 use an M6 x 1 thread, 10 mm long, with a 10 mm hex head. S241032 and S241033 are the Ex-certified versions. Check the applicable certification and installation conditions when specifying a hazardous-area application.

Match the element and cable to the application

Standard ordering options include a 100-ohm nickel element or 100/1000-ohm platinum elements, two, three or four leads, and a specified lead length. Cable choices include PTFE insulation, stainless-steel braid and FEP jackets. Elastomer-filled cable is offered as option E.

Temperature capability depends on the complete configuration. Standard platinum models cover -50 to 260°C (-58 to 500°F). Ex-certified models and nickel elements have a 200°C (392°F) maximum. E cable reduces the maximum to 125°C (257°F), and its lead length is limited to 144 inches. An optional feedthrough has a separate -20 to 149°C (-4 to 300°F) range and should be specified by inquiry.
